KG DENIM TO LAUNCH RANGE UNDER `TRIGGER TREVI' BANNER

KG Denim Ltd's garment division, KG Garments proposes to introduce new products under the brand Trigger Trevi. Trigger Trevi will be aimed at the premium segment and will be introduced across India during the first week of August 1998. The brand will cover jeans, gabardines and denim shirts. The jeans and gabardines will be available in eight colours while the denim shirts will be available in six shades initially. The products will be priced over Rs850. The products under the Trigger Trevi will have their own identity including imagery and branding. KG Garments proposes to post a sales of over Rs50 crore during 1998- 99 (Rs20.36 crore in 1996-97). KG Denim Ltd has posted a 80 percent decline in net profit to Rs0.31 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 1998 (Rs1.55 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 1997). Its sales decreased by two percent to Rs43.01 crore (Rs44.08 crore). Its total expenditure is Rs37.88 crore (Rs37.35 crore). Its interest cost is Rs4.30 crore (Rs4.25 crore). Its depreciation is Rs1.11 crore (Rs1.06 crore). Its operating profit margin has declined to 11.93 percent (15.27 percent). Its net profit margin has dropped to 0.72 percent (3.52 percent). (rk)(m)

Levi Strauss India Ltd (LSIL) may tie up with Span Eicher of Chennai to produce denim wear as the Foreign Investment Promotion Board has given it permission to collaborate with large-scale manufacturing firms. The Levis brand of jeans has around 20 percent of the one million pairs per annum premium segment of the Indian jeans market. LSIL has set up 49 exclusive outlets across the country and plans to open lifestyle stores which will also stock other brands. (khr)
